• Can you tell us about yourself briefly?

I graduated from Marmara University’s School of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1985. I then attended 1-year-long “Contemporary Management” program at Marmara University and MBA program at Yeditepe University.

Before my mandatory military service, I worked at the mining industry. After I completed my military service, I started working in Pesticides, Seeds, and Fertilizers industry and I have been in the same sector for over 30 years. I am currently working as the Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs at Sumi Agro Turkey Tarım İlaçları San.Tic. A.Ş. I am married and have one child.

  • Can you tell us about your company?

Sumitomo Corporation Dış Tic. A.Ş. is established completely with Japanese capital. Before 1996, the company existed in the Turkish agriculture industry through local companies. Between 1996 and April 2013, the company created its own organizational structure in the pesticides and plant nutrition industry and continued its development, sales and marketing activities.

Sumi Agro Turkey Tarım İlaçları Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. has been serving the Turkish agriculture with a total of 42 employees (24 of which are Agricultural Engineers) since April 2013.

Sumi Agro Turkey exists in the agriculture industry with environment-friendly Plant Protection, Pheromone and Plant Nutrition products. We are aiming to expand our field of activity based on the development of Turkish agriculture in the near future.

  • What are your expectations from private and public areas related to your industry’s works towards the future?

One of the biggest issues in our industry is registration through similars. This creates an unfair competition environment. Furthermore, it is an important obstacle for the manufacturer to reach high-quality and healthy products. We hope that the issue will be clarified as soon as possible so that the consumers will meet with healthy and high-quality products and the Turkish agriculture can see the value it already deserves.

  • How did you decide on using ERP?

Today, companies not using ERP and becoming successful is mere luck coincident. A sustainable, healthy and trustworthy operation can only be possible through a well-integrated ERP system that lights the way for decision making processes. With this goal in mind, we decided to start using CPM, which today manages our whole company from head to toe and which became a valuable solution partner for us, benefits of which we understand and make others understand each and every day. We have been working together for many years.

  • Do you think an investment in ERP is profitable?

Without a doubt! Just being able to prevent expenses that would be unforeseen otherwise is a profit on its own.

  • What is the greatest benefit of CPM for your business processes?

Being able to follow up with the notifications sent by the Ministry via Plant Protection Product Tracking System through the ERP system has been a great privilege CPM provided for our company in terms of a solution.

In addition to that, the QR Code for Stock Management in the ERP system ensured tracking and traceability. This way, Purchase – Production – Transfer between Storages – Sales operations of a QR Code can be reported easily from the system. CPM helps us save time and decreases the time required to draw up reports. We can also monitor the operations momentarily. Furthermore, the newly-developed Hand Terminal application enabled us to swipe Pallet or Box Barcode details from Storages to create Dispatch Note and its QR Code details in the ERP system.

  • Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

By nature, I have a whimsical personality, so I used to have many hobbies, including diving, sailing, skiing, playing saxophone, etc. However, the busy pace of professional life naturally makes you eliminate some of these… Currently I am mostly riding a bicycle. I read a lot but I don’t think of reading a book as a hobby anymore, it is an integral part of my life…

  • What would you tell us if we ask you about a venue or city you especially love?

Provided that mandatory travel routes (home, work, school, etc.) constitute a small triangle, ISTANBUL is perfect as a city…

  • What are your essential principles for your professional life?

I attach great importance to systems… I work not to solve problems, but to create an environment that won’t create problems…
